Our Journey

A practice built on grit, heart, and purpose.

NPS Wellness & Aesthetics began as Nurse Practitioner Services of Michiana in May 2021 — born from one provider’s unwavering desire to practice medicine differently. After years working in the ER, occupational medicine, house call medicine, hospital medicine, and internal medicine, Stephanie Kertes, NP-C, recognized a truth that most patients already knew: the 15-minute appointment wasn’t enough.

“She wanted to spend time with her patients — truly listen, dig deeper, and treat the whole person, not just the chief complaint.”

NPS launched as an insurance-based house call practice, bringing personalized care directly to patients in their homes. About two years in, it was time to put down roots, and a physical office space became the next chapter in the practice.

In early spring 2023, vitamin IV therapy, vitamin injections, and medical weight loss were added — and by June 2024, after navigating inconsistent insurance reimbursements, Stephanie transitioned NPS to a private-pay model. That decision gave her what she’d always sought: unhurried, deeply personalized care without compromise.

Since then, she has invested countless hours in advanced training across injectables, regenerative medicine, laser treatments, hormone replacement therapy, and more — all while working toward her functional medicine certification. The dream of a practice where root-cause wellness and advanced aesthetics exist under one roof has become a reality, shaped by grit, sleepless nights, and relentless dedication.

Stephanie is the heart and engine behind NPS Wellness & Aesthetics — an NP-C who traded the rush of the ER and 15-minute appointments for something far more meaningful: time, intention, and deeply personalized care.

When she’s not in the office, she happily juggles life with her husband Brent and their two adult children, Owen and Hanna. She holds a very special place in her heart for her three Bernese Mountain Dogs — Maverick, Mabel, and Maelie — the unofficial mascots of NPS.
